Local 270 is chartered by the Laborers International Union of North America, AFL-CIO. The International Union headquarters are located in Washington, D.C., with chartered Locals throughout the United States, Canada, and in the South Pacific. The first recorded meeting of Local 270 was held on August 5, 1916. Then on November 1, 1982 the Local 234 General Laborers (Santa Cruz) merged with the Laborers Local 270. The Laborers Local 270 later broadened their horizons even more when they merged with the Local 760 (San Mateo County Cement Mill Workers), and the Local 283 (Santa Cruz Construction and General Laborers). Since that time, the Local has been providing representation and support for all our members in the Bay area. We represent employees in both construction and industrial occupations. Our member's skills range from heavy equipment operator to grading and paving. Our geographic jurisdiction covers the California counties of Santa Clara and Santa Cruz. We have offices in San Jose and Santa Cruz, California. |
